Commencing at 10 a.m., ticket sales skyrocketed rapidly. According to reports, by 3 p.m. on the same day, a staggering 1.18 lakh tickets had been sold, amounting to an approximate revenue of Rs 4 crore. Later, by 9 p.m., the total ticket sales across three major multiplex chains had reached 1,24,000.
The Tamil version of the film wasn’t left behind either, garnering between Rs 15-20 lakh in ticket sales. Such impressive figures have already allowed ‘Jawan’ to surpass the total advance bookings of Salman Khan’s earlier release this year, ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’, which had accrued Rs 3.39 crore in ticket sales.
This achievement isn’t new for Shah Rukh Khan. Earlier in January, his film ‘Pathaan’ had amassed Rs 32 crore in advance bookings, setting the highest record for any Hindi film to date. A renowned trade analyst even took to social media to comment on this remarkable development. He stated that ‘Jawan’ is well on its way to becoming Shah Rukh Khan’s second film to open with Rs 100 crore, following ‘Pathaan’. This would make him the first actor in Bollywood history to attain such an unparalleled feat.
‘Jawan’ is written and directed by Atlee and features a star-studded ensemble cast. Besides Shah Rukh Khan, the movie stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, and Riddhi Dogra in pivotal roles. Deepika Padukone will also be gracing the film with a special appearance. Slated for a worldwide release in theaters on September 7th, 2023, ‘Jawan’ will be available in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages. The anticipation for ‘Jawan’ surely exemplifies the star power of Shah Rukh Khan and underscores the film’s likely success.
