According to reports, the film has already earned an estimated Rs 2 crore in advance bookings, with some theatres filling up fast.Viral social media posts claim that the movie has made an estimated $210,339 in ticket sales across 450 locations in the USA.
Reports also note that while Pathaan had a collection of just around $68,000 just 10 days before the film’s release, Jawan has already zoomed past the $210K mark with 11 days to go.
Shah Rukh Khan’s last film, Pathaan, made an estimated Rs 15 crore in North America prompting trade experts to predict that Jawan will surpass records set by the film on its opening day.
While the advance booking for Jawan began early this month in the USA, but is yet to begin in India. On Monday, news broke that the highly anticipated trailer would release on Thursday, August 31, hinting that the actor would also open the advance booking counters.
In the UK, the film has reportedly crossed GPB 75K, setting it up for a promising advance collection, surpassing the 320K mark at the international box office.
Meanwhile, in India, various theatre chains have received requests to open shows as early as 3 am. This will be yet another film after Oppenheimer and Gadar that will get an additional boost in ticket sales, thanks to the 24 hr screening at theatres over the first weekend.
Jawan was awarded a U/A certificate with some modifications and is suitable for audiences of all ages, as confirmed by Shah Rukh, during his #AskSRK session.
Nayanthara is set for her Bollywood debut with Jawan in which she will be seen alongside SRK for the first time. The film directed by Atlee also features Vijay Sethupathi in a villainous role. Priyamani and Sanya Malhotra also star in the film which will have a cameo by Deepika Padukone.
Jawan is set to release in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi on September 7.
