Karan Johar, who had addressed his sexual orientation in his biography An Unsuitable Boy, recently opened up about the struggles of his growing years where he recalled an incident which pushed him into a shell.
In a YouTube show, Karan told Nikhil Taneja that he pretended to be in love with a girl named Shalaka in the 10th standard. He said that just the way in today’s world words like ‘gay, ’fag’ or ‘homo’ are said in a derogatory tone, it was called pansyin those days.He added that it was a word that literally had really pushed me into a shell.
The filmmaker then praised Shah Rukh Khan mentioning that the superstar was the first man that didn’t make him feel lesser.This year Karan returned to director’s chair after six years and that too with a bang. His latest release Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (RRKPK) received a thunderous response from the audience. Moreover, the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne recently honoured him as he completed 25 years in the film industry.
