Rajkumar Hirani is gearing up for the release of his Shah Rukh Khan starrer. ‘Dunki‘ is set for a Christmas 2023 release. Meanwhile, the talks about his next are already on. As per reports, the filmmaker has already started preparing for his next directorial venture which is a biopic on India’s first cricket Captain, Lala Amarnath.
This will be Hirani’s second biopic after ‘Sanju’ and as per a report in Pinkvilla, the director is considering Ranbir Kapooragain for the role of Lala Amarnath.Hirani is keeping his casting options open at the moment and will zero in on the lead actor once the script is ready. However, the report says that he has Ranbir Kapoor andAamir Khan in mind and they are the top contenders to play Amarnath. Aamir is the first choice and in case, Aamir gives it a paas, Hirani will go to Ranbir. Raju Hirani has spoken to Ranbir about it but will officially approach him only after Aamir’s response.
It is said that Hirani might approach Vicky Kaushal, if it doesn’t work out with Aamir or Ranbir. At the moment, the film is in the scripting stage and can be expected to go on floors in the second half of the year. Aamir is starring reportedly in Hirani’s yet to be announced January 2024 movie already. Meanwhile, Ranbir is gearing up for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana which is expected to take off in the first quarter of 2024. While initially, Alia was set to be a part of the project as Sita, ETimes has exclusively reported that Sai Pallavi has been approached for the project.At the moment, Hirani is busy with the post production of ‘Dunki’ and obviously wants to concentrate on that first before thinking about anything else. The film is a comedy which revolves around the illegal backdoor route called ‘Donkey Flight’ taken by Indians to immigrate to abroad countries. The film stars Taapsee alongside Khan. It releases in cinemas on December 22, 2023.
